To add something extra at the end of something, especially as an afterthought
"He tagged on a brief apology at the end of his speech, but it didn't sound sincere."
To attach a label or tag to something
"The warehouse worker tagged on a price label to each item before it went onto the shelf."
(Transit, Australian/British English) To begin a journey by touching a travel card on a reader when boarding a bus or train
"Remember to tag on when you board — inspectors do check."
Often used when the addition seems minor or like an afterthought. Similar in use to 'tack on'. Can also literally mean to attach a tag (label) to something.
